Mathematical Workshop with Industry

During week 34 academics join forces to work on industrial, mathematical problems supplied when ESGI 129 is held at Gråsten Landbrugsskole

ESGI stands for European Study Groups with Industry, where SDU and DTU are alternating hosting academics to solve industrial problems once a year. This years ESGI is held at Gråsten Landbrugsskole during week 34. ESGI is a workshop where academics including PhD Students with mathematics, physics, or engineering background join to work on industrial problem. This year there are four companies that have contributed with problems to be worked on:

  • Pointsource: Estimating harmonic and intermodulation distortion from a loudspeaker
  • CC Jensen: Optimal pricing of products in a global distribution network
  • Amarna Ltd: Modelling social change with hypercomplex numbers
  • AlfaLaval: Power recovery from rotational fluid flow
In conjunction with the workshop there is a PhD course starting on the 17th of August 2017 and includes the whole ESGI week.
