Demography, Health and Economic Development

Frederikke Frehr Kristensen

I work on different projects related to the title of my thesis: “Demography, Health and Economic Development”. Overall, my interest is mostly in how changes in health and demography have influenced economic development. Within the economic literature, health has often been proxied by life expectancy. The demography literature, on the hand, has also focused on the variation in lifespans, thus providing us with even more information about the health of a particular population. I am particularly interested in how lifespan variation (together with life expectancy) has evolved with economic development and how it has influenced development, such as investment in human capital.  Another interest of mine concerns how inequality in lifetime is related to inequality in income.
