When do people die? The length of life is often summarized by life expectancy. However, this indicator is not measuring the age at which most people die but the average age at death. The former can be assessed through the modal age at death. Although the methods for estimating life expectancy are straightforward, this is not the case for calculating the mode. The modal age at death is crucial to estimating the rate of individual aging. The latter plays an important role in understanding population aging, old-age mortality, and longevity perspectives. We develop a simple and assumptions-free model to estimate the modal age at death based solely on its mathematical properties and compare our results with other models. In addition, the modal age at death has been associated with several regularities, such as the linear trend increase. We here also test the regularities at the modal age at death.
