Research interests: Economic and political demography.
Mircea Trandafir is an associate professor in the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Southern Denmark and a Research Fellow at IZA. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2009. His research focuses on estimating the causal effects of various interventions, particularly with respect to vulnerable populations or children and young adults. His recent work looks into the effects of medical interventions, such as treatments provided to newborns, on the treated children themselves and on their families. His research has been published in journals such as American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Health Economics, or Demography.
