In collaboration with libraries in the Danish towns of Esbjerg, Varde and Ringkøbing-Skjern, IFUL by Professor Gunnar Svendsen conducted a survey of library service in Danish rural areas in autumn 2009. Findings are published in a Danish report ‘Biblioteksservice i danske landdistrikter: erfaringer, modeller og perspektiver' with an English summary.
Here, besides a satisfaction survey among users is also a mapping of known models of library service in rural areas, and how they work in practice. With support from the Development Pool for Public and School Libraries cooperation continues on the project in order to uncover what part public libraries play in rural areas - historically, culturally and educationally.
