Courses 2022

Our Centre is responsible for teaching evidence-based medicine (EBM) and research methodology to medical students and PhD students at SDU.

PhD courses at SDU

We run courses on how to write systematic reviews following Cochrane methods . These courses run twice a year as both a 1-day course and 4-day course and are primarily aimed at PhD students, researchers, and others interested in how to conduct a systematic review.

1-day PhD course on how to prepare a systematic review

When: 5th September 2022
Where: Odense

The 1-day PhD course introduces participants to the core aspects of preparing a systematic review, including Cochrane reviews. The overall aim is that participants upon attending the course will be able to identify the key elements of the process of preparing a systematic review, such as formulation of a review question, searching for- and selecting studies, assessing risk of bias, performing meta-analysis and grading the certainty of the evidence. The course is mainly aimed at PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine at SDU but is also open for others to join.

4-day PhD course on Cochrane reviews and other systematic reviews of medical interventions

When: 3rd-6th October 2022
Where: Odense

The 4-day PhD course is an expansion on the 1-day introductory course and participants will be able to develop high quality, methodologically sound systematic review protocols of healthcare interventions after attending this workshop.

EBM course for SDU medical students

We administrate the EBM course  for medical students, which consists of two modules EBM 1 and EBM 2. The course aims to provide students with skills that allow them to frame a structured clinical question, identify the relevant scientific literature, and critically appraise the identified clinical studies.

Other courses and research methodology training
Additional courses addressing specific topics, such as the Risk of Bias tool (RoB 2) can also be scheduled from time to time. We are happy to consider providing training sessions to meet the specific needs of organisations. Please contact us if you have any queries.

See the Cochrane Training website for learning resources, further information about workshops and courses, and interactive learning opportunities.
