The center takes a cultural perspective by focusing on the human understanding of technology.
We believe that this is an important effort, as questions of how technology impacts the individual, our cultures, and its effects on human communities often remain underexposed in both research and the public debate.
Thereby the center functions as a forum to approach technology within an interdisciplinary framework reaching out to the fields of philosophy and history of technology, technology and society studies (STS), design studies, engineering, aesthetic criticism, communication studies, cultural anthropology, media technology, and the learning sciences.
