Development of technology that increases quality of life

Do you want to work with technological solutions that can create better health and increased welfare? Then a degree in Health Informatics and Technology might be just the thing for you. With this education, you can by the use of technology help people and increase their quality of life for both young and old in the course of illness or disability.

With a degree in Health Informatics and Technology, you will work with developing intelligent technology based on the needs and wishes of citizens as well as clinicians. You will typically work with medical equipment in the hospital sector regarding prevention, diagnosting, telemedicine, rehabilitation, and care.

With a degree in Health Informatics and Technology, you will play a key role in the development of new ways to help citizens with disabilities, and thereby you can help increase the quality of life for a large group of people.

The programme was formerly called Welfare Technology.

What will I learn?

With a degree in Health Informatics and Technology, you gain a wide range of competencies to be able to develop health technology solutions, acquire new knowledge, develop new ideas by speaking with the user, examine procedures and workflows, work professionally and interdisciplinary with projects, and much more.

You will gain knowledge within topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics; psychology, user interaction, user-centered product development; mathematics, mechanics, sensor electronics, data collection, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and programming.

In the programme you can, work with robots and automatic systems for, for example, rehabilitation, relief, and fitness; IT solutions for, for example, analysing health-related data, for telemedicine, and care; the development of apps to help citizens in everyday life; medicotechnical treatment equipment, for example, surgical robots; the development of equipment for home care for, for example, mobility, personal hygiene, and cleaning.

How is the programme structured?

The programme consists of a combination of theoretical courses and practical project work. Each semester is based on a main theme, which becomes the basis for the semester's theory and project work.
In the first semester, the focus is on people and technology - and the meeting between the two. In the second semester, the focus is on movement, where you, among other things, learn about the mechanics of humans and machines. In the third semester, you will work with dynamic systems, and the fourth semester focuses on user interaction. The fifth semester focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation, where you will work with fellow students from other fields of study. You can also choose to study the fifth semester abroad. In the sixth semester, you will carry out your bachelor project based on all your knowledge and skills from the previous semesters.

Master's Degree

The bachelor's programme lasts three years, after which you take the two-year master's programme to achieve a MSc in Engineering. Here you can specialize in RoboMedic or HealthIT.
