The department has a strong tradition for high-quality research within the fields of economics and business. The research covers both theoretical and empirical subjects, but the use of economic theory and quantitative methods, such as mathematics, statistics, econometrics and computer science, characterizes most research projects. The research activities at the department are organized within five groups:

The department wishes to strengthen its competences through collaboration with public and private organizations nationally as well as internationally through the unit OECONOMIA. The unit offers research-based consultancy in the form of economic analyses.
The department’s teaching activities are also organized in the five groups mentioned above. We educate candidates for public as well as private businesses and have a strong tradition for high-quality teaching that incorporates pedagogical tools and IT. The teaching takes place in Odense, Kolding, Slagelse and Sønderborg, where the department’s core programmes are Economics, Mathematics-Economics, Business Economics, European Studies and MMA (Market and Management Anthropology). And we teach in SDU’s qualifying continuing and further education programmes. The programmes are targeted towards employed adults with a prior degree.
