Welfare Robots

The aim of the project

The goal of the project is to create a solid foundation for a wide variety of future projects. This will be done by identifying a number of use cases. These use cases will show how robots could usefully be employed in healthcare and what kind of robot solutions there is a need for in those situations.

To identify these use cases, it is necessary to involve a wide range of skills from the fields of health care, robotic technology, finance and ethics – all competencies which are to be found at SDU. Based on observations of processes and workflows at OUH and interviews with hospital staff, use cases will be compiled based on individual processes and the actors that participate in them.  Subsequently, the individual processes´ business potential, technical challenges and potential risks in relation to the development of robotic applications will be looked at. Ethical issues, medical standards to be observed and other relevant circumstances will also be incorporated here.

The project outcome

  • A catalogue of use cases that describe processes at OUH in which robot applications may be particularly valuable and workable.
  • A significant contribution to Odense's growing robot technology cluster by highlighting potential development opportunities that lead to innovative solutions for the market in collaboration with SDU.
  • A strengthened cross-disciplinary cooperation between SDU and OUH on welfare robots.
