The aim of the project
The project aims at building autonomous drone system that can detect and report faults in overhead powerlines by doing on-the-fly image processing and charging. The drone will have an access to the powerline locations from an open data source and flies towards the desired location (or path) and inspect predefined cables.
In addition, the drone will be designed to charge from the powerline in two methods, 1) wired (by hanging cables) and 2) wirelessly (from the electromagnetic flux). Our drone system can be used in several sectors that need to have a drone that can fly for a long distance (e.g., transportation sector can benefit from that by flying drones between cities and countries to deliver goods).
The project outcome
Developing a drone which has access to powerline from an open data source and flies to the desired location and inspects predefined cables.
Design of a drone that can be charged from the powerline in two methods, 1) wired (by hanging cables) and 2) wirelessly (from the electromagnetic flux).
