Helle Waagepetersen took up the post of Pro-Rector at SDU on 1 August 2022.

Helle Waagepetersen has a background as a pharmacist (MSc in Pharmacy) and possesses an in-depth knowledge of the fields of education and research from former positions as Head of Studies and Head of Department at the University of Copenhagen. 

Helle Waagepetersen’s career in research is based in cellular neuropharmacology, and honours such as the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation’s Researcher prize, the European Society of Neurochemistry Young Scientist Lectureship Award and Teacher of the Year attest to a deep professionalism and the ability to set a new framework for teaching.

In her capacity as Head of Department, Helle Waagepetersen’s study administrative work has been culture-bearing in strategy work and organisational change, which has increased collaboration on the core values of research, education and innovation.
