About the Institute

Front of the Maersk building at SDU

The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute (MMMI) was established in 1997 at the University of Southern Denmark and it currently accommodates more than 200 employees and 1500 students.

MMMI helped lead the way, pioneering robotics research in Denmark, by creating the foundation for the robotics cluster in Southern Denmark, which encompasses over 160 robotic technology companies. The Institute is behind several of the most successful spinouts to the cluster, such as Universal Robots and MiR.

At MMMI we work with a focus on the development of intelligent, autonomous systems, which contribute to solving current and future societal relevant challenges and issues. We therefore also collaborate very closely with the industry and place a high value on the exchange of knowledge between this and the academic world.

MMMI consists of 11 sections and an institute secretariat, which you can read about on the sections’ websites.
