Danfoss donation gives high school classes camp-opportunity at SDU and Universe

A donation from Danfoss’ Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation makes it possible for high school classes to participate in camps at SDU and Universe

The Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation has donated approx. DKK 100,000 to the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and Universe, so that the parties in the summer of 2013 can offer camps to high school classes. The camps take place at SDU’s campus in Sønderborg and at Universe Science Park on Als.

Learn and play

The Mads Clausen Institute, the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg, has for several years offered high schools to visit and work on academic projects, where high school students get a taste of what engineering students work with. In many cases, the institute has made it possible for the classes to visit Universe during their stay in Southern Jutland. This has led to cooperation between engineering and science study programs at SDU and Universe, where the parties have applied for and received the donation from the Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation.

Almost without costs

The donation makes it possible for SDU and Universe to offer four camps of two or three days during the summer half-year of 2013 for interested high schools. Schools only have to cover board expenses. The camp entails both learning and play, and this combination makes the camp an attractive offer for many high school classes. The students work on an academic project within engineering or science at the Mads Clausen Institute at SDU, they receive a company visit at Danfoss as well as a trip to Universe science park. The high school class spends the night at the school camp at Universe.

The first high school class has already taken advantage of the opportunity – Faaborg High School visited SDU in Sønderborg and Universe from April 24-25. Read more about the camp and the students’ project at MCI on this home page.
