Invitation fra Danish Institute for Advanced Study and excellent research (DIAS)

Dr. Sarah Teichmann holder online oplæg den 27. marts 2020 kl. 12.15 - og du er inviteret

DIAS are happy to invite you when Dr. Sarah Teichmannm, Group Leader at Sanger Institute and co-PI of the Human Cell Atlas, will discuss how this ambitious global initiative provides unprecedented understanding of human cells and tissues in health and diseases such as cancer and COVID-19 infection.

More about the lecture:

Dr. Sarah Teichmann gives an online lecture on the Human Cell Atlas (HCA) which is an ambitious global initiative aiming to create a comprehensive reference map of all human cells, the fundamental units of life. Such a map is invaluable as basis for both understanding  human health and disease.  As an example of using single-cell RNA-seq data from human tissues, the research team has investigated the expression of viral entry-associated genes in different cell types of the respiratory tract and the intestine. Their data reveal potential mechanisms of initial viral infection, spread and clearance. These recent findings that may explain the high efficiency of SARS-CoV-2 transmission, as seen in the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Sarah Teichmann is Group Leader at the Sanger Institute, co-PI of the Human Cell Atlas project and member of the ATLAS Scientific Advisory Board. Her talk on May 27 is hosted by the Danish Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS), where ATLAS director, Prof. Susanne Mandrup, is Chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

DIAS is the Danish Institute for Advanced Study and excellent research at University of Southern Denmark (SDU). A research centre that aims to inspire groundbreaking ideas through the meeting of minds within all disciplines. That is why DIAS includes chairs from all five Faculties at SDU and a number of very promising Associate Professors. In DIAS we bring outstanding researchers together in an interdisciplinary centre for fundamental research and intellectual inquiry. We encourage and support curiosity-driven research within all fields of science and thereby unlock new revolutionary ideas.
