The symposium will bring together researchers analyzing energy generation and CO2 emissions/issues related to environmental disequilibrium (climate change).Relevant subject areas include, but are not limited to: stock–flow problems of global CO2 accumulations, IPCC emission projections, imputed prices & optimal carbon taxes, regional energy demands and economic growth, renewable (wind, wave, solar) energy supplies, electricity markets and regulations, energy efficiency (firms, households).

Format of the Symposium
A two-day meeting with a total of around 25 presentations of 30-40 minutes each. In addition to the key note addresses by H. Uzawa and D. Newbery, there will be presentations by Finn Førsund (Oslo University), Denise Konan (University of Hawaii), Chris Nash (Oxford University), and a few other invited speakers. The remaining presentations will be selected by the organizers on the basis of the papers submitted. The symposium takes place near the city of Sønderborg, located close to the Danish–German border.

Submission
We invite both academics and practitioners who are interested in presenting their research projects to submit a paper. Preference will be given to papers that suggest and explore new models in energy & environmental economics or enhance the understanding of new technologies for renewable energy forms and sustainable development. Papers can be submitted electronically in pdf-format to: climate@sam.sdu.dk or in hard copy to Bjarne S. Jensen, Department of Environmental and Business Economics, University of Southern Denmark, DK-6700 Esbjerg, Denmark.

The submission deadline is July 15, 2009. Authors of accepted papers will be notified via e-mail by August 1, where a preliminary program will become available.
