Sailing equipment from MCI in use at Oxbridge

German Olympic sailor demonstrated the innovative sailing equipment PerforManD at Oxbridge.

When the Oxbridge sailing race was held recently on the waters of Alssund in front of Alsion and the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg, the team behind the innovative sailing equipment PerforManD was present. They presented the latest prototype of the system, which measures and registers different elements of the sailor and the boat during the run, and visitors and sailors thus received a hands-on experience of what the system can offer.

During the different races at Oxbridge, PerforManD provided real-time wind speed and direction information to the sailors and the crowd on a big screen placed right by the waterfront.

Support from Olympic sailor

The Olympic sailor Hannes Baumann from Germany participated in the presentation to explain the different features, which PerforManD contains and how elite sailors can benefit from using the system.

-PerforManD will be of great advantage to professional sailors and their coaches. It t allows to measure and analyze a wide range of data gathered during a training session. Thus, sailors and coaches are able develop and optimize the individual performance of a crew and therefore maximize their chances of success on an international level”, said Hannes Baumann, who is part of the German Olympic sail team and participated in the Olympic Games in 2012.

On all boats in Oxbridge in 2015

The PerforManD team hopes that they can equip all Oxbridge boats with a PerforManD system in the year 2015 so that everybody can monitor the sailing performance of their favourite boats in real-time and compare speed, pitch/roll, heading etc. and compare with the competing boats.
