Eating Obesity

In my dissertation, I examine food advice in popular culture that specifically seeks to intervene in the ’obesity epidemic’. By looking through eight cases of food advice texts from 1996-2017, I consider what kinds of bodies are afforded the cultural space in which to legitimately critique contemporary (food) practices, as well as how the intense focus on ‘obesity’ affects current ideas about the connection between authority, expertise and embodiment.
