Research areas at SDU Health Informatics and Technology

SDU HIT strives to develop novel and ready to deploy technical solutions with a high socio-economic impact in an interdisciplinary manner. SDU HIT has a large portfolio of interdisciplinary project activities involving numerous partners from healthcare, academia, industry and network organizations.

SDU HIT has strong collaborative ties internally at SDU (within health science, engineering, and humanities) and to Odense University Hospital and Svendborg Municipality. SDU HIT has been a key factor in establishing the successful health innovation ecosystem in the Region of Southern Denmark through its previous leadership in Patient@home (2012-2018).

The core research areas of SDU Health Informatics and Technology falls into the overall categories below.

 

Data-driven health technology

This includes big data analysis; artificial intelligence and data science; intelligent monitoring and decision support; predictive models for prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and prognosis.


eHealth systems and platforms

This includes software systems and platforms for health and care; user involvement; patient empowerment; citizen centered (personalized) data collection, treatment plans, and eHealth interventions; technology assessment.


Healthcare ecosystems

This includes multi-agent based business ecosystem modeling and simulation; public private partnership; innovation management.


Sensor technology

This includes intelligent unobtrusive sensors and monitoring; physiological signal acquisition and processing; image analysis; health state and behavior modeling.


Technical audiology

This includes development and evaluation of hearing tests; user-operated audiometry; speech tests; hearing loss and dementia.


Training and rehabilitation technology

This includes robot-assisted training and sensor technology with biofeedback; embedded systems; human-robot interaction.
