The final project for MSc in Engineering students is the master thesis. Companies can gain knowledge on a very high level by collaborating with the master thesis students. At SDU we encourage students to carry out the master thesis project in collaboration with a company, but it is not a demand.
The master thesis projects can have two structures: a 30 ECTS project - 1 semester eg. duration 5 month or 40 ECTS - 2 semsters eg. duration 10 month.
Facts about master thesis projects
- 30 ECTS master thesis project
- The project period runs for 15 weeks and full time(30 ECTS)
- The project is conducted individually or in teams of two students.
- A typical 30 ECTS master project is carried out during the spring semester from February to June – with a few exceptions eg. Operations Management
- The work is normally not carried out in the company, but we advise close contact and competent feedback
- A master thesis project is unpaid.
The 30 ECTS master thesis can be combined with an In-Company Project. The In-Company project (15 ECST) runs in the semester prior to the 30 ECTS master thesis project.
- 40 ECTS master thesis project
- The project period runs for 15 weeks 1/3 time for one semester ( 10 ECTS) and full time (30 ECTS)the following semester
- The project is conducted individually or in teams of two students.
- A typical 40 ECTS master project is starting 1. September in the autumn semester and finish in the spring semester from February to June – with a few exceptions eg. Operations Management
- The work is normally not carried out in the company, but we advise close contact and competent feedback
- A master thesis project is unpaid.
