Birgitte Kallipolitis, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has received DKK 115,980 from Newtec Engineering for consulting on the project Detection of bacteria with hyperspectral camera systems. Birgitte Kallipolitis’s group will be responsible for testing the camera systems on various bacteria.

 

Dean Martin Zachariasen has appointed Professor Jacob Kongsted, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy as Head of the PhD School at the Faculty of Science.

 

Annette Baudisch, Professor WSR, Max-Planck Odense Center on the Biodemography of Aging, has held the inaugural lecture The molding of evolutionary theories of aging.

 

Steffen Bähring, PhD soon to join the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, has received DKK 2,795,972 from the Danish Council for Independent Research for the research project Development of new Tetrathiafulvalene-based Donor Constructs Utilizing Supramolecular Electron Transfer Processes – Towards Organic Photovoltaics. The project will work with a new molecule that may lead to the development of next generation organic solar cells.

Iris Adam, PhD soon to join the Department of Biology, has received DKK 2,384,640 from the Danish Council for Independent Research for the project Flex those muscles: Motor shaping of vocal learning. The project is concentrated on voice studies and will, among other things, study the muscle physiology and complex motor function of songbirds.

 

Signe Bek Sørensen, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has defended her PhD thesis Physiological consequences of targeted disruption of the Acbp gene in mouse skin.
