Aurora Meroni, postdoc, Centre for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, has been awarded the Best Thesis Prize 2014 in Physics at Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) for her PhD thesis in Astroparticle Physics: The nature of massive neutrinos and Unified theories of flavour.
Emma Hammarlund, postdoc, Nordic Center for Earth Evolution, Department of Biology, participated in the one-hour P1 live radio broadcast hosted by Peter Lund Madsen, Hjernekassen. Emma talked about early life forms on Earth while other issues were cyber security and nano technology. Hear the programme here.
Birgitte H. Kallipolitis, associate professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has received DKK 92,967 from Newtec Engineering for the project titled Detektion af bakterier med hyperspektrale kamerasystemer.
Dorte Søgaard Schrøder, Department of Biology, has defended her PhD thesis with the lecture: Carbon cycling in sea ice and the implications for the inorganic carbon cycle.
Surahbi Khandige, postdoc, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology, has received DKK 14,600 from the Lundbeck Foundation for travelling in connection with the project titled: Intracellular UPEC growth and development during recurrent urinary tract infection.
Professor Bent Jørgensen, Assistant Professor Fernando Colchero and PhD student Wagner Bonat organized a two-day meeting for the Danish Society for Theoretical Statistics, held at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Christian Kudahl, PhD student, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, has been awarded DKK 70,000 from the Stibo Foundation. The support enables Christian Kudahl to spend four months at Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETH) in Switzerland in the spring of 2015.
