People News from the Faculty of Science, week 13
Postdoc Laura Bristow, Professor Don Canfield, Postdoc Michael Forth and Postdoc Morten Larsen, all from the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution (NordCEE) have returned from a cruise into the Bay of Bengal, where they worked with collaborators from Aarhus University, Max-Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology Bremen, and the National Institute of Oceanography Goa.
The Bay of Bengal is known to contain a large volume of low-oxygen water, but this area is relatively understudied. For this reason, the concentrations and distribution of oxygen and its subsequent influences on the cycling of key elements, such as nitrogen, remain poorly understood.
On 24 March, the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy was visited by Mariano Quiros, who gave a lecture about Higgs-like particles at the Centre for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) with the title: “EWSB with custodial triplets”.
