Faculty Teaching Awards

The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences award three teaching awards annually which rewards the particularly innovative and including teaching at the faculty.

The three teaching awards include one main award and two special awards.


The three teaching awards

The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences' Teaching Award is awarded to a teacher/researcher or a group who has made a significant difference in teaching, and  who can serve as an inspiration for developing better learning processes at the faculty.

When awarding the main award, there is emphasis on how the teacher uses a variation of teaching and learning activities that applies the different learning spaces, activates the students and develops the students' different competences both academic and transformative

With the award an amount of DKK 40.000 follows.

The recipient of the faculty teaching award is also nominated as the faculty candidate for the University of Southern Denmark Teaching Prize to be distributed at the annual banquet.

Special award for involvement of practice and cooperation

The award goes to teacher(s), who to a high extend involve practice and cooperation in teaching in different ways.

When awarding the special award, there is emphasis on how practice and the surrounding society are involved in teaching and learning programmes and how it strengthens the students' cross disciplinary and transformative competences.

With the award an amount of DKK 25.000 follows.

Special award for the development of innovative teaching methods

The award goes to teacher(s), who to a high extend applies new ways of teaching and learning in the different learning spaces.

When awarding the special award, there is emphasis on how innovative and new ways of planning and organizing teaching activities are applied. A variety of activities, teaching and examination methods should be applied to activate the students’ learning in different ways.

With the award an amount of DKK 25.000 follows.

Candidate suggestions for the three teaching awards can be nominated by all faculty staff and students. Based on the recommendations the heads of study select candidates for nomination from the specific programme, which is finally selected by the faculty management. 

The recipient of the annual teaching award at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences will be nominated as the Faculty's candidate to receive the  University of Southern Denmark's Teaching Prize at the Annual University Celebration. In 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023 the University Teaching Prize went to the BSS Faculty candidate.
