Research

Centre for Medieval Studies at University of Southern Denmark has hosted individual as well as group research projects within a number of fields for more than 30 years. Current focus areas range from British medieval studies to theatre history, folk literature and culture, history of the crusades, monastic history, Latin, Byzantine, and Gothic studies to physical anthropology and DNA studies.

The Centre maintains an interdisciplinary approach, facilitates research by hosting open seminars as well as international conferences, and is actively engaged in international collaborations. The Centre issues a substantial number of publications, some of them aimed at a broader audience outside the academic world.

For further descriptions of research areas, see individual members of the Governing Committee.
