Anne Loft obtained her PhD degree in 2016 in Prof. Mandrup’s lab at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) studying the transcriptional networks controlling white, brite, and brown adipocyte development and function. After this, she joined Prof. Herzig's group at the Helmholtz Diabetes Center as a Novo Nordisk Foundation-funded postdoctoral fellow and later project team leader studying the molecular mechanism of organ dysfunction in different diabetes-related disorders, such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and diabetic nephropathy. In August 2020, she was recruited back to ATLAS and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at SDU to work as a senior postdoc in Prof. Mandrup’s lab. In September 2022, she assumed the role of junior group leader within ATLAS and by October 2023, she obtained the title of Assistant Professor at BMB. With the commencement of ATLAS 2.0 in January 2024, she was designated as a partner and group leader in the center.
In ATLAS 2.0, Anne and her group will focus on how different adipose tissue depots contribute to development of obesity-related comorbidities, such as NASH and cardiovascular diseases using a combination of mouse models, human biopsies, cell type-specific targeting strategies, and single cell technologies.
