Biomedicine is the education programme for you who are fascinated by the smallest components of the body, how the cells function and communicate with each other. And especially how they can be affected. In this programme, you work theoretically with the subject and combine it with practical examinations and analyses in the laboratory.
The bachelor's degree programme in Biomedicine gives you knowledge about biochemistry, which revolves around the chemical constituents of cells and their chemical reactions. You also learn about molecular biology, which deals with genetics and information transfer in biological systems. You will need this knowledge when you have to learn about human physiology and anatomy in the field of health sciences. Your understanding of cell biology can therefore be used to work with disease control and prevention, and you can help develop new or improved medicine.
In recent years, a comprehensive knowledge of how normal, healthy cells function has been gained. Based on this knowledge, one can now begin to understand disease states, disease mechanisms and the effect of drugs on a very detailed level.
Through a large number of experimental courses, you will learn how to apply a number of analysis methods in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology and immunology, and to combine these basic scientific disciplines with the more application-oriented medical disciplines where focus is on the human organism, for example anatomy and physiology.
The Bachelor's Degree Programme in Biomedicine is offered only in Danish. Therefore, you must be able to prove Danish language proficiency in order to be admitted into the programme.
