Odense
Saturday, 3 August 2024, 14:00 - 17:00 (SDU Odense campus - Campustorvet)
The team of SDU Summer School 2024 would like to give you a warm welcome to SDU Odense campus! As of 14:00, you can do the necessary final registration steps in order to be set for using the campus. What does that entail? You arrive at the given venue, register yourself if you are a non-SDU student, receive your student card and get a tour on SDU Odense campus by our volunteers.
Our volunteers will guide you through the campus, showing you everything from B like bikes and bus, to C like canteen and classrooms, to L like library, and T like toilet and tram. And much more! Next to that, you will learn about all the necessary cultural tips and tricks in order to get around smoothly during your stay in Denmark.
Are you up for that? And even getting to know the first friends from all over the world?
The tour is free and conducted by non-professional guides who are looking forward to sharing all the necessary tools for your successful survival on campus. So you will know your way around - even if you run late :) After that, you will be ready to start the academic part of the summer school at SDU Odense.

Sunday, 4 August 2024, 10:30 - 12:30 and 14:00 - 16:00 (in front of the Odense train station)
Do you want to discover Odense a little bit before the summer school starts?
What hidden gems are present in this fairytale town?
We have organized a walking tour for new students, where the guides show their favorite parts of the city to you. A great way to get to know the city and meet other newly arrived summer school students! The tour begins in front of the train station, next to the three-headed statue.
Our volunteers will then guide you through the city center and introduce you to the fairytale city of Odense. The tour is free and conducted by non-professional guides who are anyway eager to share their love for this city and their knowledge.
Enjoy and see the cool and interesting parts of Odense from a local perspective. Everyone is welcome to join, as long as you signed-up for it.
The tour ends at the Studenthouse (DA: Studenterhuset), where you get discounts with your student card. So don't forget to bring your SDU student card to get better offers at the bar.
IMPORTANT! You need make sure to sign-up for one of the two offered times prior to the event since we only have limited spots available. The sign-up is possible from Monday, 22 July 2024 at 9:00 to Sunday, 4 August 2024 at 9:00. Click here to access the sign-up form.

Tuesday, 6 August 2024, 19:30 - 23:00 (SDU Odense campus - Friday bar “Nedenunder”)
So many new potential friends are waiting to be discovered by you!
Join us at the speed-friending event to get to know new people within three minutes.
This will be the easiest way to make friends from all over the world – Danes included!
Please note: Since we have limited spots available at the venue, we can grant access to a maximum of 300 people. So better be on time :)

Thursday, 8 August 2024, 19:30 - 21:00 (at Ærtefabrikken)
Who does not love to test their knowledge through a fun quiz?! :)
We thought that maybe you all would like some competition and test your knowledge on various topics. The topics will be announced a few days before the event, so no need to study beforehand.
Please note: Since we have limited spots available at the venue, we can grant access to maximum 250 people. We will start at 19:30 sharp. So better be on time :)
There will be cool prices for the winners - all SDU merchandise. A great way to remember your summer school!

Saturday, 10 August 2024, 10:00 - 15:30 (entry of SDU Faculty of Engineering)
Visit one of the most beautiful Danish landmarks: Egeskov castle and its gardens, winner of the European Garden Award 2012.
You get a chance to visit and enter one of the best preserved castles in Denmark. Here, you can also get lost in the garden maze, or explore one of the several gardens. Visit the vintage cars and motorcycles exhibitions or take a walk on suspended bridges. These are only a few of the activities you can enjoy!
You are welcome to bring your own lunch bag or visit the local café for beverages and food.
The ticket price is 220 DKK per person and the ticket will include:
- Transportation with private bus
- Admission to all exhibitions, park and the castle
Deadline to purchase your ticket: Wednesday, 7 August 2024 at 15:00. The sign-up link for the event will be shared with you after your enrolment is finalised.
Meeting point: SDU entry of the Faculty of Engineering (the ‘cheese building’) at 09:45. The bus departs at 10:00 sharp, and since we are in Denmark, you will not be arguing with bus drivers about time :)

Monday, 12 August 2024, 19:30 - 23:00 (at Studenterhuset)
It's Monday and we thought it would be great to host a Karaoke night for you!
Let's check:

✔ Do you enjoy singing alone or with friends?
✔ Do you enjoy meeting new people?
When your answer to at least one of the questions is YES, then you need to join us tonight!

Join us for a “hyggelig” night of board games and summer school buddies!
Gather your friends and join us at SDU for a night of board games! There is gonna be loads of fun! We will be meeting outside the library and we will then go inside to play some board games.
Once you are done playing, remember to bring them back to the library :)

After all your hard work, it is time to celebrate!
SDU will sponsor some drinks and snacks for a final gathering among your summer school fellows to round up your experience at SDU Odense. If you like good vibes, some nice weather and a chilled drink - what better way to say goodbye to an amazing time and the friends you made along the way!
Come also around for a final big group picture of all the participants of SDU Summer School 2024. No worries, you will surely look splendid after your exam ;)

Visit one of the most historic Danish landmarks: Dybbøl Mølle and the historic Dybbøl Banke, the battle ground that has truly shaped Denmark.
Experience the exhibitions and get to know more about Denmark's history and the historic challenges with our neighbor, Germany.
