Study as a guest student at SDU

How to take a course outside your programme (internal guest students)

If you want to read an individual subject or take a course offered in connection with a programme other than the one you are enroled in, you can apply to your Academic Study Board to have it approved as a credit-earning part of your existing studies. If the Academic Study Board accepts your application, you must forward the approval to the Examination Office. You will then be entitled to take the subject/course as a guest student if there are vacant places.

Students from other educational institutions (external guest students)

If your own Study Board has approved the course, fill out our electronic application form. The application should include the pre-approval, documentation of access requirements as well as the list below.

It is always a good idea during the planning stage to contact someone from both of the programmes in question, i.e. both the study programme secretary or the academic supervisor for the programme you are enroled in and the study programme secretariat or the academic supervisor for the subject or course you want to take as a guest student. Your Academic Study Board will only give you credit for a subject/course if its academic content lies within the framework of your curriculum. We recommend that you contact the Study Board in good time, as there may be long delays.

If you need any help or have questions concerning your application, please contact Student Services in Sønderborg on telephone +45 6550 1102 or via e-mail soenderborg-ukot@sdu.dk
