SDU UAS Center is the lead partner in in UAS-ability, a consortium of five major Danish Universities with the target to establish a national research infrastructure for drones.
For SDU the main part of the infrastructure will be incorporated at HCA Airport in Odense creating the SDU UAS Test Center - one of the most advanced UAS research and test environments for drones outside North America.
SDU facilities in HCA Airport:
- Composite Lab - development and design
- System Integration Test Lab – tests and simulations
- C2 link infrastructure - long range command and control
- Access to 867 km2 BVLOS airspace over land and sea
- Office spaces for companies and academia
The goal is to create a drone ecosystem attractive to national and international companies and research institutions.
SDU's laboratories in HCA Airport is expected to be ready for use in fall 2018.
UAS-ability is supported by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation and is co-financed by Danish Universities.
