Niels Bohr Professor Rita Felski proclaimed Honorary Doctorate

Niels Bohr Professor Rita Felski was proclaimed Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy at the Annual University Celebration held at the University of Southern Denmark, October 28, 2016.

Dean Simon Møberg Torp’s (Faculty of Humanities, SDU) Promotion Ceremony Speech to Niels Bohr Professor Rita Felski:
"Professor Rita Felski has served as Professor of literary and cultural theory in the English Department at the University of Virginia since 1993. And in 2006 she was offered a personal chair as the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of English.
Professor Rita Felski is a widely recognized international scholar within the fields of comparative literature and cultural studies. The Danish newspaper Information even called Professor Felski the rock star of literary studies.
She is also Editor of New Literary History one of the most important and influential journals in her field.
This year Professor Felski was awarded a Niels Bohr Professorship funded by The Danish National Research Foundation. She will lead a research project on "Uses of Literature”.
It is a privilege for me to recommend Professor Felski for an honorary doctorate on the grounds of her schorlarly distinction and outstanding contributions to research."
