The University of Southern Denmark has tested a number of hand scanners and digital pens and found that the following models meet the demand:
Hand scanner: IRIScan Book 3
Digital pen: IRISnotes™ 2 Executive
Should you encounter urgent problems with your hand scanner or digital pen or other equipment for computerizing writing during your exam, it will be a hand scanner or digital pen of the above models which will be at your disposal.
Hand scanners and digitals pen can be purchased from the book shop (Studenterboghandelen) at SDU.
The Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science and IT Services at SDU are developing new software for Windows, Mac and Linux that enables drawing, handwriting and text typing on one document, and in one fluent process.
The implementation of Digital Exams at SDU has created a need for being able to digitise drawings (e.g. construction sketches, molecular structures, anatomy drawings etc.) and handwriting, (e.g. formulas, phonetic writing, Arabic, Greek etc.)
This can be achieved by using a digital pen - but in order to meet the needs of the students of all SDU programmes, the drawings and handwriting should be easily integrated in a report, the major part of which consists of typed text.
It is also important that all students can use the same software, regardless of whether you are using a Windows, Mac or Linux computer.
On the Scribble download-page you can see the computer requirements for running SDU Scribble, in terms of Operating System and RAM.
