Broad basic knowledge and goal-oriented, in-depth studies
The elective programme, Scandinavian Area Studies, offers you a broad, basic knowledge of the history, politics and culture of the Scandinavian welfare state, and provides you with competences in the fields of welfare studies and cultural communication. At the same time, the programme enables you to concentrate on specific subjects related to the Scandinavian welfare state such as Crime Fiction in the Scandinavian Welfare State, Scandinavian Modern – Design and Society and Nordic Democracy.
Scandinavian Area Studies also introduces you to central concepts of cultural analysis and to theories of the welfare state at the interface between general knowledge and specialised, in-depth studies, as well as knowledge of everyday culture as it is manifested in the Scandinavian welfare states.
