With a master of science in engineering degree in Software Engineering you learn how to develop and improve the software products and services known to us today, such as e-mails, Facebook, apps, intelligent cars, online banking etc.
The programme will provide you with the foundations for developing the software which forms part of the solution to problems of relevance to society and private companies. You will learn how to create well-thought-out software solutions based on the cultural and technological context of the people and organisations who will use them.
You will be taught how technology is best used to develop efficient solutions - not only from a technological viewpoint, but also from the viewpoint of the user. You will go straight to the users, examine their needs and get good ideas for solutions, and you will get practical experience in actual software design.
Software from a-z
The study programme will among other things teach you how to:
- develop software from scratch
- further develop existing software
- examine the need for the software, describe and analyse demands
- design software, program and test it
During your studies, a lot of emphasis is put on software development, but you will also receive instruction in programming, software technology, interaction design and problems of relevance to society and private companies.
Learning environment based on project work and research
You will become part of a study based and cooperative learning environment in which you work in project groups. You and your fellow students are responsible for planning and carrying out the project – and for meeting the deadlines. Usually we receive the projects from companies - both from companies developing software and from companies buying software solutions.
Many different career opportunities
As a graduate you will have a wide range of job opportunities – in Denmark and abroad. Among other things, you will be qualified to take up positions as software developer, mobile app developer, IT- and system architect, system consultant, software quality engineer and IT strategy manager.
You might also continue your education in a 3-year research programme, leading to a Ph.D.
