Project work
Many jobs contain a project module, during which it is important that the employee can structure and complete the part of the project he or she is accountable for in a responsible manner. As an employee, the tasks you perform are often part of a greater whole. Therefore it is important to plan your part of the assignment so it fits into the larger project.
Through your bachelor project and MSc thesis, you have achieved experience in independent project planning, arranging experiments and testing hypotheses, execution of research and application of models and methods throughout a project module. You have learned to design a project, determine useful methods, complete the project and analyse and reflect upon the results of the project.
As a student, you have had laboratory work or practical experience, and have hereby learned to apply models and theory to specific problems, and you know to adjust and improve work methods and processes, when new information or new results emerge.
Optimisation
In all workplaces, there is a vested interest in improving processes and products. As a science graduate, you are capable of working according to evidence and remaining critical of the methods of your work processes when examining a specific problem. You maintain an analytical approach to problems and are attentive to detail. These scientific work methods qualify you to work with increasing effectiveness and optimisation.
Quality assurance
In all workplaces, procedures exist which ensure the quality of both development and processes, and as MSc you know how to uphold certain work procedures (i.e. in the laboratory) and maintain focus on any possible sources of error in the process. Therefore you have a certain experience in quality assurance of your own work and of both procedures and products in the workplace. You can therefore assist in developing future procedures for securing the level of quality within the organisation.
Systematics
When working with analysis, procedures and development within a company, it is important to be able to systematise and build i.e. management systems (within production, quality, environment, energy etc.). The systematics of your job will give both you and your co-workers the opportunity to control all aspects of the work process. The recipients of the work will also have the opportunity to look through and test any results.
