New MSc honours programme
How do we benefit the most from alternative power sources and how do we counteract global warming? How do we prevent and tackle lifestyle diseases – and how can we best develop an individualised treatment of e.g. cancer?
The Danish society experiences together with the international community great challenges demanding future scientists to be able to integrate and combine scientific basic disciplines in new and untraditional ways. Furthermore, scientists of tomorrow will have to communicate and cooperate across traditional disciplinary boundaries even more.
The more knowledge we generate about means of action and effects of existing solutions, the better the solutions of tomorrow’s problems will be. Therefore the Faculty of Science at the University of Southern Denmark has developed the new MSc Honours Programme in Interdisciplinary Science Studies.
As a student of the MSc honours programme, your studies will take place in a stimulating environment formed by some of the leading research groups at the Faculty of Science, i.e. the faculty's excellent ground research centres – Center for Biomembrane Physics (MEMPHYS), Nordic Center for Earth Evolution (NordCEE), Nucleic Acid Center (NAC) and the centre for Fundamental Living Technology (FLinT) - as well as e.g. Centre for Lake Restoration (CLEAR) and several large EU-sponsored projects.
All these groups are characterized by their focus on the interaction between several disciplines in order to create state-of-the art research results paving the way for solutions to the problems of tomorrow.
The MSc honours programme in Interdisciplinary science studies promotes the interaction between fundamental sciences, thus creating the setting for innovative fundamental research and optimized solutions for pressing societal needs.
