Michael from Northern Ireland is studying Marine Biology and has just become an International Brainstormer.
What brought you to Denmark?
As well as offering a free education, Denmark has much more interest in environmental issues than other countries. It can see how important scientific research can be and it is one of the leading countries in use of renewable sources of energy.
Why SDU?
When I looked through several university webpages for my subject I preferred the course description that SDU provided. The Institute of Biology has excellent teaching staff and there is a lot of focus on practical group work.
What makes you want to stay in Denmark?
I’ve only been in Denmark for 6 months and the country has made a great impression on me right from the start. The people I met both in and outside university have been very welcoming and friendly. I like the way the country is run. There are higher taxes here than my home country, but the pay is higher as well and more benefits and services are a result of these taxes.
What do you think being an International Brainstormer can do for you?
When moving to another country a little help is appreciated! The IB program sounds like it can really make it easier for me to find a job in Demark after my studies. The people involved are well connected with Danish employers and they have already provided some useful pieces of information and advice.
