About
“International Brainstormers” is a project launched by the University of Southern Denmark in April 2012, funded by the European Social Fund, the Region of Southern Denmark, and the University of Southern Denmark, aiming at recruiting international graduate students.
In february 2013, 30 students will be enrolled in the project. In september 2013, 60 students will be enrolled, and the same goes for september 2014. These students will, as an integrated part of their graduate programme, be matched with a relevant company in the Region of Southern Denmark in which they should do a company project work, and possibly write their thesis in collaboration with the company. In all probability, this will increase their chances of employment after graduation.
Why are we doing this?
A lack of highly skilled employees in certain areas in the Region of Southern Denmark is one of the main reasons for launching International Brainstormers. The Danish Industry Foundation published a report in September 2012 which showed that international graduates are very valuable to Denmark and that we should do more to maintain the students in order to keep competitiveness and growth rate high. You can read the report here. Furthermore, the Region of Southern Denmark has decided to focus on three business areas which show large growth potential: renewable energy, experience economy, and welfare technology.
International Brainstormers is one of many projects which aim at overcoming the lack of skilled labour and carrying out the strategy of the region. Therefore, students who wish to become International Brainstormers must be enrolled in a graduate programme at the University of Southern Denmark within one of the above mentioned areas.
