This honours class in Geobiology is offered in English.
In this honours class, you will explore the interface between geology, biology, and chemistry.
The basic philosophy is that microorganisms strongly influence, and in many cases control, the chemistry of the surface environment. Microorganisms control the chemistry of soils, lakes, oceans, and even the atmosphere on long time scales.
Through a series of four courses in this elite module, you will be introduced to environmental chemistry, microbial ecology, and aquatic geology with the theoretical and practical tools needed to understand and explore interactions between organisms and the environment on the modern Earth and through geologic time.
