The master’s programme in English (International Line) at the Kolding Campus of SDU provides you with advanced skills in English and advanced level knowledge in intercultural understanding.
This master’s programme gives you a broad spectrum of skills and competences focused on English for academic purposes, English as an international language, and intercultural communication.
The core competences will be based on critical thinking and independent assessment, enabling our graduates to mediate complex content based on relevant and current theories of the intercultural and of communication, as well as related practices.
CONTENT: There are required courses in academic writing and intercultural communication. The academic writing course comprises rhetoric and method in addition to discourse and pragmatics. The intercultural communication course will give you a sound foundation in cultural phenomena such as face, politeness, collective and individual cultural traits in societies, and enable you to communicate on an informed basis in a transnational environment.
The bulk of the programme consists of electives which will vary from semester to semester and which will give you the opportunity to design your education to you own preferences for specialization in a given direction.
The master’s project can be the crowning of this in that the topic is chosen in cooperation between you and your supervisor.
The degree will open a variety of avenues of work in diverse fields demanding high- level English skills in combination with intercultural competences and with academic methods of self-education as well as the capacity for taking independent responsibility.
