This programme is based on the internationally-recognized expertise of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the areas of proteomics and biological mass spectrometry.
All students will take a theoretical and laboratory course in this area during the first semester. Depending on their interests, students will complement this with a biologically-oriented course package in either molecular biomedicine (tumor biology and metabolic regulation) or molecular microbiology (including host/pathogen interactions and antibiotic resistance). The remaining time in the first year is devoted to elective courses and to an independent laboratory project.
The second year will be spent on a full-time research project leading to a dissertation. This may be carried out in one of the laboratories of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the areas of proteomics/mass spectrometry, molecular biomedicine or molecular microbiology. The project can also be carried out in another laboratory in Odense, for example at the University Hospital, or elsewhere.

PhD programme
If your desire and abilities suffice, you can choose to apply for a research degree. This can be either as a 3-year programme following the master’s programme or as a 4-year programme beginning a year after the bachelor programme. The research programme leads to a PhD in science.
