Modern design of structures
Our exchange programmes in structural engineering focus on modern design of structures using both concrete and steel as the main materials for building structures.
You can attend the programme for one or two semesters where you have the possibility of learning about the following and much more:
- Modern design in steel structures
- Project management
- Theory and analysis of structures
- Computer aided engineering
- Limit analysis and concrete plasticity
- Organisation and management
- Structural vibrations
- Quality management
Autumn semester
Today, steel is one of the most frequently used materials for modern and challenging structures. This recommended study path offers a comprehensive introduction to the design of modern steel structures according to the Eurocodes and structural vibrations. Students gain additional knowledge about the theory and use of finite elements, which is an efficient tool in structural design.
The 20 ECTS can be supplemented with courses within project, organisations and quality management, a course about product design and material technology or the course ’Experts in Teams’, where interdisciplinary and cross-cultural cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship is taught and practiced in a project together with Danish students with different educational backgrounds.
Spring semester
This recommended study path offers a comprehensive introduction to concrete structures according to Eurocode 2 and the theories of plasticity, which are important skills in modern structural design. You will learn about advanced steel construction, theory and analysis of steel structure.
The 20 ECTS can be supplemented with courses within project, organisations and quality management or a course about product design and material technology.

Teaching
Our education model is based on project based learning and during your studies you will gain considerable practical experience. Besides, classes are small often with no more than twenty students, so you have time to discuss issues in-depth with your teacher.
