It is great to make a difference
The feeling that you make a difference is fantastic. “It turned out that students at BSc Business Development, unlike "the ordinary" business economic students, found it easier to understand the theories, as the two days a week in the company on the 4th and 5th semester gave you an opportunity to test the theories in the "real world".
Learn to see the big picture
"The educational approach at Business Development forces you to bend theory and prerequisites so that they fit the problems you encounter in the company. By this process, you learn more from all of the courses at the Economics and Business Administration programme and later the MSc programme. It becomes easier to see the connection between courses and you get a better understanding of the big picture."
A critical approach
It did not only become easier to understand the theories - you also developed a more nuanced and critical approach. It is safe to say that your critical sense was strengthened from the days in the company." Even though Brian is positive about the BSc Business Development, he emphasises that it calls for a certain personality and strength, if you want to take full benefit of the programme:
Innovative and responsible
"As a human being you will need the courage to take initiatives and responsibility for things to get started. What characterises many of the small and medium size companies is how they do not recognize the problems that a BSc in Economics and Business Administration is qualified to identify. Therefore it is a matter of locating where and how you can contribute, and then take the initiative and responsibility for the action. Of course it is a great responsibility but in return you are a part of creating your own work day"
Business experience
" Apart from the academic results and the business experience, the greatest advantage is the satisfaction of being a part of a success and the pleasure of making a difference. The feeling that you make a difference is fantastic. It gives you a drive and self-confidence - two important ingredients for an ambitious business economist... It is reasonable that you have to put in an extra effort at some times. The more you give, the more you get in return - it is not so complex after all."
