Internship
The internship is a concrete practical project to be defined jointly by the University of Southern Denmark and the company. During the internship, the students will be assigned a tutor from the University.
The internship takes up the entire 6th semester of the programme. Its aim is to provide the students with concrete practical experience of working in a company.
The organisation of courses during the programme illustrates a natural progression. First, the students acquire a basic theoretic introduction to economics, IT and project work. During the courses, the students are given practical problems to solve in the form of projects.
Only then - when the academic foundations are in place - will the students have their period of internship. During the internship, the University and the company will jointly prepare a plan for the problems to be addressed by the individual student. Because of this practical element, the internship is a complex constituent of the programme. Consequently, it is assessed on the basis of a process description as either passed or failed and is supplemented by a statement from the company.
As part of the internship, the University will make determined efforts to ensure that the students get honest feedback from the workplace in order to become familiar with their own professional and personal strengths and weaknesses. In so doing, there will be focus on the transitions from studying to working in the business sector that often involve problems of adjustment for both companies and new business graduates.
