The Department for the Study of Culture was established in August 2012 as a result of a merger between major segments of what were previously the Institute of Philosophy, Education and the study of Religions and the Institute of Literature, Culture and Media Studies.
The Department encompasses the academic areas of Philosophy, Cultural Studies, Literature, Media Science and Education.
The Department engages in research, teaching and knowledge mediation in a large number of fields including epistemology, ethics, literary history, theory of science, the aesthetics of music, cultural studies, cultural dissemination, culture and learning, literature in Danish and foreign modern languages, textual and literary theory, media, media cultures, information technology, upper secondary school and university teaching, discipline-specific didactics, profession-development, plus work and learning.
