Department of History

The main research areas within the department are: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, modern Danish and European History, Maritime Archaeology, the Middle East, American Studies and the Study of Religions. Within this range of research areas the department supports individual as well as collective research projects, and more extensive initiatives are particularly developed as part of our centres:

To strengthen the cooperation across the different research areas, the department has chosen three transversally research programmes: 

The department is also responsible for the teaching programmes of History, the Study of Religions, Contemporary Middle East Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, and Maritime Archaeology besides the disciplines of History and Social Science at the language and M.Sc. programmes.

The employees are active in national and international networks, and likewise, research is published regularly in national and international journals.
