The department has established a joint secretariat which services externally financed research and development projects as well as the internal and external communication of the department.

The secretariat can be used by all the employees of the department and their collaborators. It is the liaison to the press, businesses, knowledge institutions and others with an interest in the communication of research and the co-operation with researchers at the department.
