The Department of Political Science and Public Management was established as an independent unit in 1996. It belongs under the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, and today it comprises the Centre for Journalism and the Centre for Welfare State Research and the Center for War Studies (the last-mentioned in cooperation with the Department of Law). The research at the Department of Political Science and Public Management covers the core elements of political science and journalism and welfare state research. The Department offers degrees and courses within political science, social science and journalism. Furthermore, the Department of Political Science and Public Management offers the study programmes: Master of Social Sciences in International Security and Law (in cooperation with the Department of Law), Master of Public Management, Master of Evaluation, Master of Editorial Management and continuing education within journalism.
