New Center established at the Department of Border Region Studies.
On January 1st 2013, the Danfoss Center of Global Business has been established within the Department of Border Region Studies (IFG). The vision of the Center is to build a unique high profile, high quality research and teaching pole in the field of global business and B2B marketing. The Center will enable the selection, testing and implementation of novel high-impact global business ideas through active knowledge exchange between businesses and academics. Core to the Center's functioning is the vision of mutually open walls between IFG's academic staff and business stakeholders, as business representatives and non-Center academics can opt to be stationed within the Center to work on joint research and teaching activities. The Center's activities will be built on three pillars, projects with collaborating firms, building human capital (graduate and undergraduate students) and the organisation of workshops and conferences. Staffing currently includes the Center's director (Prof. Steiner) and Executive Assistant (Daniel Staugaard), and is anticipated to include two permanent Assistant/Associate Professorships, two PhD positions, a Postdoc position as well as a 20% visiting Professorship.
The Center is co-financed by a donation from the Bitten and Mads Clausen Fund, and funds from the University of Southern Denmark. The Center’s international Advisory Board will consist of academics and business representatives, to help ensure that the following goals are met:
* Attract and retain top scholars by way of formal and informal connections to other research units at the University of Southern Denmark, and to similar international research centers.
* Support the bachelor and master programs in international business at Campus Sønderborg as well as other business study programs at the University of Southern Denmark.
* Contribute to a close complementary collaboration between academia and business.
* Contribute to the public knowledge of meaning and impact of global business.
