The Centre for Smart Energy Solutions is an interdisciplinary research and innovation centre located at the Faculty of Engineering, Odense Campus. The Centre was established in 2013 as part of implementing the faculty’s new strategy.
The Centre brings together energy experts, software engineers, computer scientists, applied physicists, and social and managerial studies experts in the analysis, design, and implementation of smart solutions to increase the efficiency of energy demand and supply systems.
At present, the Centre includes researchers from Department of Technology and Innovation, The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute and the Mads Clausen Institute.
Mission
The Centre’s mission is to participate in the green transition of the Danish energy system, by focusing on innovative solutions for intelligent integration of the energy flexibility, at the consumer side, with the fluctuating production from renewable energy sources as wind and solar power. In other words, smart energy solutions for making consumers Smart-grid Ready.
Development of smart energy solutions happens in close collaboration with end-users, utilities, and technology companies. Public-private collaboration is the central element in the Centre’s research and innovation strategy.
